Artist of the Month | Röyksopp, Junior

It seems fitting that the last feature artist of 2009 is on my top albums list of this year.
Röyksoop is a Norwegian electronic music duo who feature the voices of nordic female artists in their work, such as Lykke Li, Robyn, Anneli Dreker, and Karin Dreijer of The Knife and Fever Ray.

Their 2009 album, Junior, is filled with 11 great tracks that have definitely become my soundtrack of this year. Several of the tracks feature a hauntingly beautiful mix of electronic beats and symphonic strings. The vocals have a bit of a dreamlike, ethereal quality over really full sound.
I suggest all of it should be played at maximum volume.
This provides ideal conditions for rocking out in your car or living room.

As it turns out there was supposed to be a sequel to the album, titled Senior, to be released just several months after Junior this past march but they have pushed back the release until 2010 to avoid diluting the hype around Junior.
Smart guys.

This may mean I already have a contender for my 2010 Best Of list.
Waiting in anticipation...

This is also a very though-provoking video made on their last album, The Understanding, for the track Remind Me.
