Alice Smith recently toured with Citizen Cope (one of Mac's music boyfriends). We were fortunate to see her live in March at the Independent in SF. Her soulful voice and impressive range make her 2006 debut album, For Lovers, Dreamers & Me, which is a beautiful mix of rock, soul, and R&B, one of my best finds of 2008. Every track is strong, leaving the listener wanting more at the end of track 12.Influenced by such greats as Patti LaBelle and Nina Simone, her voice no doubt will carry her into her next great album.
While we heard her opening act at the Independent I hadn't spent much time listening to her album, but thanks to Rhapsody I threw it on the other day and couldn't help myself clicking the play button again after it finished. I'm hooked!
