KT Tunstall @ The Moore

At 2:15 today when Josh reminded me KT was playing in Seattle tonight I decided to go.
I headed downtown at 5:00 and was apparently too early for the scalpers in front of the venue so I mulit-tasked by searching for a ticket on Craig's List from my PDA.
On the second try I had a girl who was willing to sell just one and she happened to be 2 blocks down at Pike Place Market.  It was a seamless hand-off and no more than after 10 minutes after beginning my quest had I succeeded.

The show was amazing.  KT is bright, she's real and she's absolutely hilarious.  Her transition period monologues were entertaining and refreshing; she completely connected with the audience.  Every time a crowd member yelled to her on-stage she always answered them.  Whether she was honest or offered a cheeky reply she acknowledged every one of her fans.

She had a four-piece back-up with a guy playing the stand-up double bass, another on the slide guitar/lead and a third on keyboard/glockenspiel (the fourth on drums). Great sound.

She is captivating live and her music sounds even better than her albums, as she is constantly improvising and adding extra bits throughout the extended live versions.  Her looping was great on Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, she had a beautiful harmonized version of Universe & U (far better than the recorded track) and ended with an energized rendition of Suddenly I See.

One of the best shows I've been to for awhile.

Now we'll have to hear from Josh at NOFX...
