I decided to ring in my new year by celebrating the season in Tahoe. Our friend, (Dr.) Laura, flew in from Maui and we went up to Sierra at Tahoe for the long holiday weekend.
Saturday was packed on the mountain, but it was a beautiful bluebird day and the three of us had a blast finding our favorite runs on the slopes. Saturday night our friends Jeremy and Molly drove down from Berkley and we had amazing conversations over a delicious stir-fry dinner and freshly-made iPod music playlists. Our plan was to head back up to the mountain on Sunday morning, but since Jeremy and Molly weren't going up snowboarding we opted for a lazy day of homemade brunch, a neighborhood walk, some semi-final football, board games and....more music! We had such a fun time just hanging around in our sweats, talking and spending time together.

Monday we headed back up to the mountain (after a bit of a late start) and ended up behind vehicles going 25mph due to "chains required" conditions....the snow fall had begun!
By the time we got to the resort it was 11:00 and snowing hard. Since it was a Monday the slopes weren't busy at all and we pushed hard for 3 hours of great snowboarding in awesome powder. As brother Steve says: "It was free refills every time!"
We drove Laura back to the city that night and had dinner with her, her cousin Wendy, and her friend Michelle. The late night drive and early rise for work the next day made my actual birthday (Tuesday) a bit long but so worth it. It felt amazing to be surrounded by some of my good friends. I can't think of a better way to bring in my last year of my third decade!
